On employment and professions, and people's attitudes toward them.
There are many careers and professions in the world.
You can be a street sweeper, cleaner, musician, barista, cook, or whatever. You can work in almost as wide a variety of industries as there are jobs; hospitality, tourism, customer service, car sales, public service..., the list goes on.
You can do these jobs because you need the money, or because you can't find anything else (same reason, really), or because you love it.
Here's the thing, though.

Are you buying the right strings for you?
I was browsing through YouTube the other night, when I came across the following video from Phillip McKnight, entitled "Are you buying the right strings for you?"
Now, I'm pretty passionate about strings, so having watched a bunch of this dude's videos in the past and developed a respect for him, I thought I'd see what he had to say.
He's right, but - in my opinion - for the wrong reasons.

Video!
Well, after trying to sort out just what in the hell is wrong with OpenShot, I'm still no closer to getting an answer. For the first couple of renderings, the background audio just decided to skip for no reason at all.
I finally got it to work, but the audio is clipping in places for no reason that I can tell (I mastered each track to be fairly far below 0dB in Reaper...), but I really can't be bothered fixing it, since OpenShot is such a pain in the proverbial on my PC.
...which is bizarre, because my PC is otherwise a complete beast!
Anyway, I created a Youtube playlist. An introductory video, and a clip of me performing The Oath of Narcissus on each of my guitars. No fancy time signature stuff, just some riffing and soloing to demonstrate the differences between the guitars.
To break it down, I do use all the guitars for their own purpose:
JLV7: Stage
RGA7: Jamming at home
RG7321: Recording

So, I'm using OpenShot to render the videos I've been taking about.
God, it's a slow mess. I have a reasonably fast PC, but by god, Windows Movie Maker was faster and more stable than this ten years ago!

Kerbal Space Program
Finishes work at 12 noon...
Right, I have the afternoon off! I'm going to do something productive today, like finish that video I hinted at earlier in the week!
Gets home...

Oh, what's the harm in a quick game of KSP before getting down to business?
...nine hours later...
Well, shit.
I don't claim to be particularly great at this game. The problem comes from not playing it in ages, and then returning to it. You have to basically relearn it from scratch.
So, last night I got up to level 3 tech, and decided to make a spaceplane (which is basically impossible at that level)
Here's what it looks like on the ground, complete with all of the boosters:
...and here we have it actually leaving the atmosphere:
..buuuuuut since I'm useless at designing planes and this one kept crashing, I decided instead to build a car.
In the real world, I really would like to build my own car. It'd be a low-slung sports car with the engine in the middle and all of the horsepowers.
In the meantime, I have to make do with building stuff in KSP.
I call this one the Elan Rover, because it reminds me a little of the original Lotus Elan:
Not content with that, though, I decided to strip it back (and rename it to Elan S, as you do) and send it to the Mun.
So here it is, catching some mad... er... vacuum.
I've been thinking of this as my "Lotus Rover" but seeing as it's rear-engined, perhaps I should think of it as being a Porsche Rover instead?
Ha!
Back to music, though.
I've been putting together some video as an introduction to my gear and to demonstrate how I work in funky time signatures. Stay tuned, because I'll be finishing that up in the next couple of days. I've set up a Youtube channel to accompany this blog, so hopefully I'll be posterising some cool shit in the next few days!

It has been brought to my attention that certain outlets are selling what appears to be "Hazelnut Snickers".
DO NOT BE FOOLED!
These are not the real Hazelnut Snickers, instead, they are Fake Chocolate - a mixture of baby poo and smashed gravel, with a hint of Ebola Zaire.
ACTION REQUIRED:
If you see these so-called "chocolate bars", please contact your local Hazelnut Snickers Quality Enforcement Officer (ie: me) so that they can go to the location and remove them from sale personally.
